Christian Klimmer, the long-standing CEO of the medical technology company GS Elektromedizinische Geräte G. Stemple GmbH (better known under the brand-name corpuls), will leave the company at his own request at the end of the year. After more than two decades at corpuls, he hands over to his successor Christoph Brönnimann who brings vast experience from leadership positions in the international medical technology sector. During a transitional phase, Mr. Klimmer will remain available to the company in an advisory capacity.
Since joining the business in 2003, Christian Klimmer has decisively shaped the company that develops and manufactures innovative high-end devices for emergency and intensive care medicine, and has played a leading role in developing it into a global player. “Back then, we were less than 40 colleagues, hardly known internationally, and our revenue was less than six million euros,” Mr. Klimmer reminisces. The market launch of the corpuls3, a patient monitor with integrated defibrillator/pacer, in 2007 marked the beginning of the company’s successful journey to becoming a global leader. ”Today, we have far more than 600 employees who supply over 70 countries worldwide and we are aiming at a revenue of markedly over 150 million euros this year.”
Brönnimann counts on tradition and innovation
The future CEO Christoph Brönnimann comes from a background in the medical technology sector. The 58-year-old has several decades of experience in executive positions in various companies, mainly in the DACH region, but also in the U.S.A. Most recently, he was CEO of the Swiss medical technology company Medartis for more than five years. Before that he worked for the healthcare company Johnson & Johnson in an executive function. ”corpuls is a great brand with an impressive success story and enormous potential. That is the best foundation from which to lead the company into a continued successful future together with the experienced team,“ says Mr. Brönnimann. He is looking forward to „preserving the corpuls tradition and at the same time driving innovation as well as strengthening and expanding the international presence of the brand”.
corpuls is stronger than ever before
Today, corpuls is stronger than ever before. The company, which was founded in 1982 by Günter Stemple, is once again one of the fastest-growing mid-sized companies in Germany, according to a study by the strategy consulting firm Munich Strategy in cooperation with the newspaper Handelsblatt (2024: second place, over 8,000 companies examined). In the next years, corpuls plans to expand further, primarily abroad, and to open up new markets. To ensure that the steep growth trajectory can be successfully continued in partnership with the investor Nordic Capital, Mr. Klimmer has started in good time to distribute tasks from his sphere of responsibility to the other Managing Directors. ”I am handing over to the best team I can imagine, and I am convinced that my successor is an excellent fit for our team and corpuls,” says Mr. Klimmer.
